Toxic's Cosmos is set in our Local Group, millions of years in the future; our local galaxies have fostered life to be ever-thriving, filled with insane technology, space adventures, and a plethora of unimaginable worlds still left to be discovered. Unfortunately, terrifying creatures have been popping up all around our local group; demolishing planets and star systems indiscriminately and with no signs of slowing down. It's up to a select group of our smartest and tenacious lifeforms to find a way to be rid of these nightmarish creatures, or be doomed to despair.

I started working on this project to teach me the platform of Unreal Engine. Eventually, I'd like to have the ability to release one small level a day containing an immersive sci fi environment that is designed to challenge the player to outwit the nightmarish creatures that threaten to destroy the planet. Each new level will introduce new tech, various creatures, and unique player mechanics for added combat and traversal capabilities. The majority of my time on this project will be perfecting the player’s unique movement until I have fully designed the characters and creatures.

My favorite aspects of working on this project are the player physics and character animations. I was inspired to revisit what I loved most about physics and mathematics while I was coding a method of correlating the height of the players jump with their personal gravity. Creating the locomotion system also influenced me to think outside of the box of the normal rules of animation. If given the opportunity this project could become a universe unlike any imagined before.
